Public Folder Permissions

I have an Exchange 2003 Server, and the company uses Public Folders, I want to set permissions to these folders using groups, do I have to mail enable the groups before I can assign them to the relevent folder

yes, because once you mail enable it only then it will be visible in the GAL. and you need to use security groups to assign permissions on public folders
