Using different textures on the same biped model

I'm using 3D Max and i need to create a model of a person then animate it with Biped. Problem is i still want to animate and texture different parts of the model. So i'm not sure i want to attach it all together. How can i have a model that works with biped but has for example movable eye, and dfifferent textures such as eyes and clothes?
I am a real begininer so i need to keep it simple. Thanks
