Hi Suoju,

If your question is what is a Platform game, then you can define a platform game as one where you are required to negotiate a series of obstacles, such as platforms.

Popular examples of such games are: Super Mario Brothers or more recently, Jak and Daxter

Hope it helps!

thanks, UltHybrid, what do you mean "negotiate a series of obstacles, such as platforms".
and also i know about the game Super Mario, but i know nothing about Super Mario Brothers, are they related.
Platformers, in the traditional sense involved you controling the character as you jumped from surface to surface in order to reach a goal.

These games are rare now, with the introduction of 3D Graphics. Games such as Prince of Persia are a good representation of this, as it involves jumping the main character from platform to platform.

Again, for a more detailed explanation, visit the link Masqueraid posted above.

Super Mario Brothers is essentially the game that brought Mario and Luigi fame, as well as being listed as the best selling video game of all time.

To date, there has been no game released that is simply known just as Super Mario, but almost every other Mario spin-off has Super Mario within its title, such as the N64 version, or the version released on Gameboy Advance.
