Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for a backup plan for a company with 20 offices scattered around the country. We also have roughly 15 servers in our main office. Currently we use Commvault to run nightly incremental backups to our head office. But the backup jobs don't complete in time. Eg. 4 branches backing up at the same time, our two 2MB leased lines can't process them all quickly enough.
All suggestions appreciated.

Call your CommVault sales rep and ask him about CDR - continuous data replicator. This is a new CommVault product that performs a file level, exchange, or SQL continuous replication. You can replicate your remote offices 24/7 and back them up form the destination server at your main office. This is a much more viable solution for your issue. Instead of doing a "burst" backup and using all the bandwidth, you can set it up to throttle back during production hours, and run wide open during off-production hours.
