Flash MX2004 drawing problem

I am using Flash MX2004 on OS/X and I am having trouble drawing objects.  I must have some option set incorrectly.  I am selecting an edge color and a fill color.  When I draw a circle or square, the object has a green edge and no fill.  I cannot change the colors via the property or paint tool.  Any ideas?

Thanks
JDF

you drawing from just selecting the drawing items, not dynamically?
does it only happen in the IDE, i.e if you compile the swf, is it still the same?

The laptop had wide-ranging problems with the OS, so it turned out not to be a Flash issue.
