Windows Media player 11 crashes when playing DVD's

Windows Media player 11 crashes when playing DVD's.  Windows Media player can play CD's no problem.
I am using Windows Vista home edition - and when I check the Application log I get the error

Faulting application wmplayer.exe, version 11.0.5721.5145, faulting module clvsd.ax, version 3.5.0.814, fault address 0x00039f48.

This also happens when I use other DVD playing software such as PowerDVD.
any suggestions?

Looks like your decioder might be corrupted....
Try this from a command line....

regsvr32 /u "C:\PATH TO THIS FILE\CLVSD.ax"
regsvr32 "C:\PATH TO THIS FILE\CLVSD.ax"

A combination of reinstalling the Power DVD software and reinstalling the default Windows Video codecs worked - thanks.
