Hi All,

I have a SBS2003 standard R2 server, which is trying to install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (32-bit x86). I do not know if it should but it is stuck with an error:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800705b3: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (32-bit x86).

I am unable to find a way to get it out of the queue of updates to install and insists on rebooting the server at 17:55 every day.

The event log show as the install as failing and that :

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 installation failed.
This operation requires an interactive window station.

I am unsure how to progress with this

1) Does it need Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 as it is SBS 2003?
2) How do I remove the update from the update service?

Thanks

SBS service packs are usually distributed in a specific SBS package (bunch of updates). I, personally, would not be installing a generic service pack on SBS...

Thanks Mark Micheal, The update slipped through.

I have sorted the issue - the yellow shield appeared this morning and I was able to reject the install there. The issue seems to be that MS has issued this update and is being picked up in the autoupdate section rather than being flagged as a major update and that consideration should be made whether to update.

This link does explain it rather well.

Thanks and I'll try and close off this question.
