Hello experts,

Currently we had Windows 2000 domain controller at this remote location (called dc5srv)
we want to replace this server with new windows 2003 domain controller server and we like to have same server name as dc5srv. We will not do the upgrade but replace with brand new server.
The reason we like to name the new server the same as old server because there are about 100 users at this location so we do not want to reinstall printer or some time the users create shortcut from the current server on their desktop.
So here is what i really want to ask
how do I bring up new windows 2003 child domain controller and has same computer name as the current?
Or how do I bring up new DC without have to touch the desktops to change user profile?

Thanks

I would follow the answers in this question....

So long as the old name is cleared out of AD you will have no problems joining a new DC with the same name back into the domain.
