mnemonics in a vb.net user control do not display until after the Alt key is pressed.  I have a user control with a few standard buttons on it.  For the Close button the text value is &Close.  When the control is shown, no mnemonics are visible.  When I press the Alt key they all show up.  My user controls are shown within a splitter control on a form. The left panel1 of the splitter is a menu and the appropriate control displays on the right in panel2 of the splitter.   I have the latest service pack for VS 2005.

Hi  bjmanley;

This function is under the control of the end user/workstation. If you right click on the desk top and select Properties... when the Display Property Window opens click on the Appearance tab on the top then click on the Effects... button, bottom right, then remove the check mark on the line that states "Hide underline letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key." then the underline will always show.

You are right.  That is what is happening.  I think I will send an Alt key command when the control loads to combat this setting.  Thanks!
