Exchange 2007, Offline address book problem

We have recently upgraded to exchange 2007, and everythin was working just fine. Then i noticed that some users was not in the Offline address book. So i created a new OAB in exchange 2007, and made that one the default OAB. Removed the old OAB and after that my clients cant download a new OAB.

I have moved all replicas from the exchange 2003 server to 2007, and removed the routing group connectors between the servers, since all users are running on the new exchange2007 server.

All clients use outlook 2003 sp2, i get this error message on the client:
13:10:13 Offlineaddressbook for Microsoft Exchange
13:10:13       0X8004010F

Any suggestions?
I have tried to rebuild it, but to no use

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That error message means that they cannot find the folder.

Did you replicate the system folders from Exchange 2003 server?
Have you changed what server is generating the OAB?

Simon.

mcsalladAuthor Commented:
Hi,

Yes I have replicated all system folders from the old exchange server.
And OAB is generated from the exchange 2007 server.

I checked the public folder instances and they had all been moved

Do the offline address book folders actually have any content in them?

Yes, if u mean this folder?
It contains 4 other folders with uid names
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ExchangeOAB

SembeeCommented:
No, I meant actual content, not folders.
If you use the command

get-publicfolderstatistics

You will see a list of the folders and item count. The item count should not be 0.

This is the key section:

OAB Version 2       386       2007-04-12 02:58:25
OAB Version 3a     386       2007-04-12 02:58:25
OAB Version 4       12         2007-04-12 02:58:25

OAB Version 4 is always smaller as they changed the format.

When you created the OAB, how exactly did you do it?
I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't attached to the store correctly, but it depends what you did.

Ok, i did like this:

When i had installed the exchange 2007 server, it was working fine, but i noticed that some users didnt show up in the OAB. So i tried to create a completely new one, and made that the default OAB, but the clients still downloaded the old OAB that came from exchange 2003. So i deleted the old OAB and created a completely new one with the same name as the old OAB.

After that no one could download the OAB

What exactly did you do to create the OAB?
Did you run a command on the Exchange 2007 server in Powershell, did you create it on E2003 and migrate it across?
I haven't seen this on E2007 yet, but E2003 what you are describing is an issue where the newly created OAB isn't associated to any storage group and the clients cannot find it.

I created it with the exchange management console, under organisation container, mailbox
Just right click and choose "create new offline address book"

And the guide wants to know what server is responsible, i picked the exchange 2007 as responsible server. I also checked the box that said "include the default global address list"

Feels like the clients tries to get a hold of the old OAB but cant, and doesnt accept the new OAB. I have tried with a completely new user also, but same problem there.. so its server side for sure

At this time no.
You are not the only person with this problem, there are at least five questions active on this site alone with the issue. However I haven't seen it myself, so am a little in the dark with it.

I do know that Microsoft have noticed it is an issue and I understand there is content (msexchangeteam blog post I expect) in preparation. However I do not know when it will be published.
