SQL Express Authentication - Reset passord

I installed SQL Express on my workstation some time ago and don't remember what password I assigned to sa.

I can login using Windows authentication, but it doesn't allow me to do any operations, such as add a database. Is there a way to reset the password, or do I have to remove and reinstall SQL in order to proceed.?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the answer to this is no. You will have to un-install and reinstall. If you make a backup copy of any user database files you have, you can use sp_attach_db to reattach them to the new installation.

Thank you. Oddly enough, I am logging in via Windows Authentication and I am an Admin on my local machine where this is installed. Isn't this supposed to give me admin privileges on the DB server?

It should unless the builtin\administrators group has been removed or been removed from the sysadmin role.
