BrightStor ArcServer Errors 3801/6300 SBS2003 Server

Server OS: SBS2003 SP2
Hardware: VXA2 Packet Drive (IDE) on it's own IDE channel. 210O firmare (latest)
No windows driver installed for device.

Software: BrightStor ARCServe Backup: r11.5 SP2 (Build 4232) - Small Business Server Edition


Errors: E3801 Invalid Header Signature (SIG=00000000) and E6300 Windows NT SCSI Port Error.

The backup jobs seemingly run fine. However, cannot restore because Merging/Restore fails to find sessions on the tape.


We have already replaced the drive, cleaned the new drive, and tried a new tape. Still same errors.

PLEASE HELP!!

Im backing up to a USB Drive right now and will need it back sooner than later.

Came across the same problem with a Sony IDE drive, invalid sig and SCSI port error and that one got escalated at CA support and am waiting for solution. Best I can say now it to install SP3 because that might have the fix in it.

Yah, I tried calling CA but they want $100 per incident with no service agreement. I was hoping to use EE as my last resort before that.

No, just download the one. The different versions are for the different languages. You might want to check with CA to find out if you still have to pay if the cause of the problem is found to be due to a problem in their code.

installing SP3 seemed to do the trick...thanks! I'm glad I didn't have to pay them $100 to tell me that. CA'S support website is confusing...I like the product, but I'm more of a fan of Symantec's logs and support links, etc. The company I work for refuses to go back to Symantec though because it's $200 more expensive...
