Gridview scrollintoview - in ASP.NET?

I've got gridviews in panels with scroll vertical.  I scroll down below the immediately visible rows and select a row.  The screen refreshes and the gridview repositions to the top, and the selected row has to be scrolled down to again, in order to see what was selected.

What are some ways to get the panel to not reset scroll position to the top on page submit?  I've done this with JS but it was a while ago and it seemed to be customized per gridview (had to find a particular field, etc.)  I've also seen a "generic" JS tool, but it seemed very IE centric.  Is there something that's built into ASP.NET for this?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

www.asp.net/ajax

Thanks for the input.  Unfortunately, I'm out of slack to absorb new technologies;  MS and my dev cycles didn't sync for AJAX on this release.

Ajax was a reasonable answer, and none other appeared, so I'm awarding points on that.
