Ive got a SBS 2003 SP1 with Exchange 2003 SP2. I clicked to install the waiting windows Updates anf for an hour and a half now it's just been sitting on "installing updates" as it tries to install update # 912442. I have clicked the Cancel button against even though I prefer to never cancel this sort of an update mid-install.
So now it says "Cancelling" but I'm fearing I"m going to have to reboot this server to clear this up now. Hopefully not. Has anyone seen problems with this update installing? I'm not finding much on this one so far. Thanks.

This forum thread describes a similar issue:  http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=53&forumid=11&tpage=1&view=Topic&postid=40176

Which sounds as though you may have improperly configured your TCP/IP settings.

If you'd kindly post a COMPLETE ipconfig /all from the server we'll see what's up with that.

If you need to reboot... boot into safe mode and be sure those updates are uninstalled.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

That's not what was recommended...it was that you boot into safe mode and UNINSTALL the updates (or any portions of them that are there).

The solution ended up being stopping the Ninja anti-SPAM services on the server and then the update installed ok.
