Cannot view Website Internally

We have our exchange server based on our qstreetmds.com site. However, when you try to view it internally, you cannot see it on the web where it is hosted some where else. How would i make it so that the Domain name was visable in house?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

server02 is the name. But internally they cannot see qstreetmds.com. I am not sure what i should add so that they can view the website in our office. exchange is fine, it is the website. qstreetmds.com is based on our internal DNS. so when you view the site outside it will not display the page.

Create a New forward lookup zone on your internal DNS servers called qstreetmds.com Then create an a Record inside that zone called server02 that points to the INTERNAL ip address for that server - note if you have a public website you will also need to create another host called www and point this to the PUBLIC ip address of your website - so your internal client can still get to the public website :)

So I have to create DNS for the website that is hosted outside of our office so that people can see it internally?

Pete LongTechnical ConsultantCommented:
Yes - say for instance your website was www.xyz.com and your domain was xyz.com thein internally your clients see the website (no matter if it inside or outside) as a client on the network called www

>> i need to add the dedicated Ip for the hosting website

Is the website on your Local LAN our outside the firewall?

Thanks Petelong, I got it to work. I just added the information to the DNS records on the server that qstreetmds.com had a ip address on the web. I do have one other question related to this. My pop mail server used to be mail.qstreetmds.com, now it doesnt work. My router points to my mail server do i also need to add mail.qstreetmds.com to the ip address we have for the office? Thanks! Sorry for the late response!
