I run my Java applet-based app in Firefox.  It is a multi-grame page with an applet in each page.  I use some JavaScript to communicate between Java applets (netscape.javascript.NSObject).   I use Sun Java plug-in 1.6.  Firefox 1.5

When I switch between pages containning different applets (load one page, then load another in its place) Firefox craches with this error:

INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Did not understand spontaneous code 20

There is no exact sequence but it happens every time after 10 or 15 clicks.  I do not ever see this im MS IE.

First, upgrade to FireFox 2.0.0.3, see if it happens again.

This is an internal error in JAVA 6.0

Very strange, I reported the same error to SUN, but that was on SuSE LINUX running ECLIPSE 3.3M5.
I never saw it happen on MSWindows.

Please report this error (+log) to SUN.

This is happenning on REDHAT LINUX  (NOT WIndows).  I never see this problem on MS IE Windows.  I do not use Firefox on Windows, though.

I always use Firefox on MSWindows (98, 2000, XP) because of security problems,
without any malfunction of JAVA or FIREFOX.

So, you have proven my case that there is an error in JAVA 6.0 Intel-LINUX edition
(we use the same JAVA version).

The only thing you can do now is install JAVA 6.1 (just released, may be for this reason).

If JAVA 6.1 does not solve this, please report to SUN and tell us here.
It seems that several applications suffer from this JAVA problem on all LINUXes.

I only see JDK 6.0.  Where do you see 6.1?

Firefox does not work with 1.6 plugin.  Even after I fix the link Firefox still does not see the plug in.  When I revert back to 1.5 Firefox does see it.

Did anyone figure out this stuff with fixing the link?  This is very annoying for customers to do?  Does anyone have a good script for this?  Thanks.

[root@lab13-20 plugins]# pwd
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins

#does not work:
[root@lab13-20 plugins]# ln -s
/usr/java/jdk1.6.0/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

#This works:
ln -s /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_05/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
libjavaplugin_oji.so

JAVA 6.1 (6u1) ::  http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

And please report this to FIREFOX (Mozilla) and SUN.
It's not gonna be solved here.

Any idea why Firefox does not work with 6.0?

I think that Firefox and ECLIPSE both address some function  in JAVA 6
that does not work properly on LINUX.

Did you try JAVA 6.1?

You can also try to get an update over the net.

I do not see this problem with 6.01 anymore!  I think it is gone.  I need to test on other systems (e.g. a 64-bit system).

I see a different one, my left frame applet does not repaint until I move a frame border a bit to the left or to the right.  ANother annoyance.

Again, report this to both MOZILLA and SUN or the problem won't be solved.
