Internet Explorer configuration/customization question.

I'm using IE 7. I don't care for it. I would like to know 1. How to shorten the field/space allocated for the address. It is almost the entire width of my screen. 2. How do I activate the feature to make IE7 appear as if it were IE6? I read that this option is available but cannot locate it.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Greetings Need-a-Clue,

1. There is no way to change the width of IE7 address bar.  The code bury deep within Windows.

2. You can spoof the website to think you are using IE6 by teaking the user agent

war1, greetings to you likewise! I truly wonder what Microsoft was thinking by "locking in" SOOO much space for the address bar when most of the time I don't care what shows up past the first few characters. I'll just have to put up with it I suppose. At least I know there is no easy fix now.

Your number two is WAY beyond my "computing comfort level".
So, it appears that I'll be learning patience while using IE7. Thanks so much for your prompt answer.
