Editing scanned signatures within adobe acrobat

I am trying to scan documents  to enablle them to be sent electronically. However before I can e-mail them I need to be able to remove the signature on the document. I can use the crop function but it means losing part of the document. When I run OCR within adobe it picks up the text but does not recognise the signature even as an image file. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I have done a lot with adding, erasing or just messing around with manual signatures, so maybe i can help.  But I don't understand the problem.  I will suggest this - If cropping almost does what you want - try a text box of the signature (in Acrobat).  You need to add at least one character to the box, or it goes away (a space works).  Set the box attributes to 0% opacity, with a white background.  It's a great "eraser" in acrobat.  If that's not it, maybe you can explain the problem for me.

Good luck, DGB

I have tried a text box, the problem is that as the document will be sent to a large number of people, there is a requirement to actually remove the signature rather than just hide it. Any advice would be great
