Data Provider or other service returned an E_FAIL status

hi there,
I have an application that runs on VB6 and it used o work fine.
But now i'm getting the following error:
Run Time error '-2147467259(800004005)
Data Provider or other service returned an E_FAIL status

is there a way to fix this?

The problem/error is probably comming from your webservice you are calling

I had this exact same issue. It took a lot of digging but I finally
solved my problem. In IIS, I went to the properties for the virtual
directory giving me trouble and set the application protection to Low.
I'm not sure why this works, but it appears to have fixed the issue.

i dont think that helps me because my application is a windows application and not a web base.
If it helps i'm retrieveing data from a SQL database (v2000)
