Windows 2000 internet shortcut to all users

on windows 2000 systems I need to create a shortcut in their favourites list to an ip address. The problem that I face is that when I put the shortcut in the c:\documents and settings\all users\favorites folder, the shortcut doesn't show up

I need this to show in everyones list including all future users. Any help?

Favourites are in the personal profile...
One method I could think of would be:

for /f "delims=" %%a in ('dir c:\Documents and Settings\ /b /ad') do copy \\server\share\shortcut.lnk "c:\documents and settings\%%a\favorites"

in windows XP this is not the case and this method should work across OS's.
Your method above would not work for all future user.

Why not?
For 2k & xp, this is the profile container folder.
It would copy the shortcut to all profile's favortes folder.
You could modify it slightly to 'only' copy if it doesn't exist by using this:

set shortcut="my shortcut.lnk"
for /f "delims=" %%a in ('dir c:\Documents and Settings\ /b /ad') do (
  if not exist "c:\documents and settings\%%a\favorites\%shortcut%" copy "\\server\share\%shortcut%" "c:\documents and settings\%%a\favorites\"

I can't answer that - but in all my testing, dropping it into allusersprofile\favorites never worked to get it on 'all users' favorites... : (
