cannot access the intranet

I just got a new computer for my company, and when I try to access the intranet it tries to connect over the internet and does not find the page. but if I enter the ip address I can connect to the intranet.

How can I setup so when I enter the website address it will take me to the ip address. It's only on the new computer, all other computers I type the web address and I'm able to access the intranet.

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you can access web sits on the internet ONLY by IP address, the problem is DNS.

What is the output on the computers having problems when you type IPCONFIG /ALL  ?

What is the setting for the DNS entries? Are your clients pointing to the correct DNS servers?

Check that. I read your question wrong....Weeww...time to put down my coffee. :)

So you are unable to access the intranet and internet using host names? But can access them by IP addresses?
If so, follow my previous suggestion. Check the DNS setting on the client.

Should not have to, unless you are using a proxy server. Then you would need to configure the browser to point to the proxy.

Do a ipconfig/all on one machine that works, and the machine that is having problems. then paste it in here, so we can take a look.
