I'm trying to install SunOS 5.10 (Solaris 10) on a Sun Ultra Enterprise 450 SPARC-II server using the bootable CD-ROMs. &nbsp;According to Sun, this hardware IS supported. &nbsp;When I get to the &quot;Select a Language&quot; prompt, the keyboard and mouse do not work. &nbsp;They do, however, work when I boot into the OpenBoot interface, and work if I boot into the existing 5.7 installation. &nbsp;I recently typed &quot;set-defaults&quot; in the OpenBoot interface while trying to solve the problem of booting off the CD rom, but I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the problem. &nbsp;In OpenBoot, the input device is set to &quot;keyboard&quot;.<br />

They do, however, work when I boot into the OpenBoot interface, and work if I boot into the existing 5.7 installation.  I recently typed "set-defaults" in the OpenBoot interface while trying to solve the problem of booting off the CD rom, but I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the problem.  In OpenBoot, the input device is set to "keyboard".

Keyboard/Mouse not recognized by Solaris 10 install on Sun Ultra Enterprise 450 server.

Unix is a multitasking, multi-user computer operating system originally developed in 1969 at Bell Labs. Examples of external peripherals include mouse, keyboard, printer, monitor, external Zip drive or scanner, while internal peripherals include CD-ROM drive, CD-R drive or internal modem. Today's new devices, such as tablets, smartphones and wearable computing devices are considered peripherals as they can be connected and used on a computer system. The difference, however, is that these devices can run independently of the computer system.
