Internet connection settings suitable for local and remote connection for notebook user

Last Modified: 2013-11-21
A notebook with Windows XP Pro is used on local Windows Server (SBS2000) with ISA running. On the notebook - LAN settings in Internet Explorer are specified (proxy server address and port). When using the notebook from remote connection: we use a VPN connection to Office and remote in via (RDP). However, we have to change LAN settings in Internet explorer to get RDP to work by changing IE settings to  automatically detect settings (internet connection).  Is it possible to configure notebook/browser settings so that user can easily connect to office LAN from both remote and local  without having to make constant configuration changes on notebook?
