asked on

using dreamweaver to create login and password

I am using Dreamweaver 8 and want to set up a login page for my website running as default (wwwroot) on server 2003.  It is for a childcare centre and I want the parents to be able to access their childs directory when they login - so once you login you are looking at a specific directory and nothing else.  How would I do this?

Here is a pretty simple method to redirect to a directory.

I don't want to set up a database when I have these people as users already in ActiveDirectory - I want to work off that.

Hi Dier02,

There is no built-in Dreamweaver behavior to handle this, so you would need to go to an outside solution.  Try:

http://www.codeproject.com/asp/webactivedirlogin.asp

and/or

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998360.aspx

In relation to the first article there are no instructions as to where you would place those files in wwwroot or how to place the code into a page.  How would you do this?
If you download the sample project there (requires registration), you will see how everything goes.

I did but dont really understand it because there are no directions as such or the directions are clear perhaps to someone who has some programming knowledge.
Could you simply step me through it please?

cheers,

Reid
Sorry Reid, ASP is not my thing.  Dodge20 and Rouchie (frequent posters) both know it and probably can help.

Thank you for the thoughtful response.  I'll have to check and see if the server has.NET on it and if not get that sorted out first.  Then Ill get back to you.  Its friday night here so I'm off to the pub with a few mates and will follow this up tomorrow.
Cheers.

I miss pubs.  The local joints in L.A. just don't compare.

Which town's pubs do you miss?  I don't really go drinking that much now since the UK Government put so much tax on alcohol that the supermarkets have become the default choice...  :-/

Aussie
Brisbane/Sydney pubs
London and Edinburgh.  I used to spend my summers there with family.
>> Brisbane/Sydney pubs

2 fantastic cities...!  I did the English-tourist-in-Oz east coast thing some time ago.  I can't wait to go back.

>> London and Edinburgh

Not been to Edinburgh but my sister lives in London now.  We went there for the New Year's party.  There's a real buzz whenever you go!
Hi Venabili,

Absent a response from the asker, it could be any of the answers except mine.  Delete no refund?
