Active Directory filter string to return all entries with a specific null attribute

Hello I'm using the Softerra LDAP broser and trying to do a very simple query against Active Directory.  I'm basically trying to find all the entries in the directory where the attribute is null or "" (hasn't been set, is empty).  If I place "attribute=hello" in the filter field and click search I do get a proper result set and can do wild car pattern matching, i.e. attribute = hel*, etc.  When I simply enter attribute=null I get nothing returned by the search.  I've tried IS NULL, attribute = " ", attribute = "".  Any ideas out there?  It could be that the browser doesn't support this (which I'd regard as rather odd as it seems like a very robust tool) or perhaps Active Directory requires a specific way of querying this...  Thanks for you help everyone!  :-)

Hi, a WMI request within a vbs script should do the trick.

I know I could do it via a script...was wondering if it is possible through an LDAP browser...  :-)

Does AD not do well through third party tools?
