Cisco router 1720 router password reset problems

Hi All Experts,

this is question for you;

I am trying to setup one Cisco 1720 series router with 1 fast ethernet port and 1 serial wan interface card and 1 isdn bri wan interface card.
since I did not know the 'enable' password so I tried to reset the password. I connected router with console cable and hyperterminal - baudrate 9600 ,8 , N, 1 settings.
first I checked the configuration register value that was 0x2102 using the show version command.
after that I rebooted the router and press break key so it reached in rmon> mode. from there I have put ' confreg 0x1042 and press enter, then I type 'reset' and press enter.
at this position my console freezes. and when I restarted the router it shows nothing on the console.
then I suspect my cable connection is not securely connected so I tried it with a different 2600 series router and it worked with cisco 2600 series router which is running in our network.

Now the LED indication on this cisco 1720 router is Pwr is ON, and Ok led is also ON. at the back side it also shows the WIC 1 OK and WIC 2 OK ( for isdn and serial interface) LED Ok.
I feel something happened with the router flash config or so -  is anybody have and clue to resolve the issue.

Please let me know - I hope I am able to explain my problem.

thanks in adavance - reply asap its urgent.

Thanks , very much . by your direction I have able to see the console. I have setup the baud rate to 1200.
Now my config. register is : 0x1042

the initial value was 0x2102.

should I change this value to 0x2102 again to see the console at defaul hypertermilan settings ( 9200 -8-N-1)

reply me asap.

manay thanks to you.

I would. Otherwise you'll need to remember that the console speed on that one device is 1200 instead of the default of 9600.
Why the grade of "B"?

Was there some aspect of the answer that was not acceptable?
