Windows 2003 Domain Upgrade - Domain Controller temporarily taken off network senario.

Hi, I have a Active Directory upgrade senario:

- I will be upgrading a Windows 2000 Server DC to a Windows 2003 Server DC.
- I must power down the 2k3 DC first to flush out dependencies that i missed (point the dependencies to another DC)
- The problem is alot of clients are pointing to this DC as a fixed DNS server
- When i power down this DC, i plan to setup a DNS server, and re-use the IP of the DC, so the clients can still resolve.

So the question is: Since the DC is not demoted yet, will there be any problems with clients logins since the DC's IP is resolvable and its IP is still in use (by the temp DNS server) in the network?
