Do W2K3 added the AD, other client computer's share still can access?

Hi all experts,

We plan buy a Windows Server 2003 Standard or SMB to make a File Server, now we all are workgroup base, and each workgroup have the own share.

I am wonder if we bought the W2K3, and make the AD work, all client computer using XP Pro join to the Domain environment, do they still can same as before, make the share on their own client computer but I using the AD to control who have the permission to access this "Computer" 's share?

I mean not the share save in the W2K3 server, some share save in Client Computer, some are save in the W2K3, do the access and permission still work on this type of environment?

Thank
