Prompt SSL Redirect http to httlps and https to http

After installing SSL on an ASP.NET 2.0 website, I encounter the following problems:
1) When index.htm is redirected to https://login.aspx, IE prompts for choice of certificate saying: the page you want to view requests identification(at least for the first time)
2) When redirecting back from the https app to index.htm, IE prompts again for viewing secure/non secure data.
How can the above prompts be prevented from showing while switching back and forth between http and https? Thanks for any help.

You cannot prevent the prompt.  All you can do is ensure that all content on your page is the same type (secure vs non-secure).  To do this you can simply use relative paths instead

so this page on this site would be:

/Programming/Languages/.NET/ASP.NET/Q_22603040.html

instead of

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/.NET/ASP.NET/Q_22603040.html

That way since you are not specifying http or https, and just saying how to get a resource, it supplies it as secure or not secure based on how it is accessed.  Since there is not both secure and nonsecure resources, IE does not prompt.

I try what you say, but still see the prompts.

Is the prompting part of IE's intrinsic properties?

Yes.
