I have users connecting via citrix.  I need to have all users that connect have the My Computer icon and the Internet Explorer icon appear on the desktop.  Is there a way to force these items to be there, and if need be, prevent them from deleting them from the desktop?  I have the group policy entry of "Hide the My computer icon" set to Disabled, but it does not prevent the users from removing it from the desktop.  Thanks in advance.

Copy shortcut's to c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop\

If you have administrators on this server, they still be able to delete those shortcuts. Then you will need to set security permission on ...\all users\desktop.

Is a Mandatory Profile an option?

Research "Kiosk" and "Mandatory Profile" if you need more details, or ask if you want some links.

Mandatory profile is not an option, as they all need different profiles.

So you can stick the shortcuts on the All Users Desktop like Cro0707 said and take rights away from everyone, including Administrators (Read Only for all, check the Read Only box in Properties too).  Now the only way someone can delete one is by taking ownership, elevating their rights, and deleting it.

I did that, but i also hid the icons in group policy so it would not display twice.  however, when i do that, if someone tries to go to my computer, it does not show the drives.  once i unhide the icons in group policy, the shortcuts work fine.  it has the icons on their desktop twice.  does anyone know of a way to have the icons show only once, and also be able to view the contents of the my computer?  ie and my docs work fine, just my computer does not look right.
