How to easily password protect a powerpoint presentation?

How do I lock a powerpoint presentation so it is password protected or read only so no one can make changes to the powerpoint?

You can make it read only, no one can modify it unless there have a password. Just follow the step.

1)Open the file which you want protect it.
2)Click to File, Save As, select the Tools,  Security Options, At the Password to Modify, key in your password, press OK and reenter again. then press save.

PowerPoint will prompt you to overwrite the filename, just put yes.

So every time you open the file, powerpoint will prompt you the password dialog box, just put read only, then the file can ope but can't modify. Unless you want to modify, you need to key in the password.

We have PowerPoint 2000, it doesnt have the password option.

In any case, we decided to ZIP it with a password to unzip it though WinRAR.  Thanks for the help everyone :-)
