Hi experts,
I often work with browsers html css and javascript. I lately installed Vista which has the built-in IE7. I'd like to ask you guys if there are any ways to install many version of IE together with IE7 in Vista, because I need to test the website's cross browser ability. I'd like strenghten "Vista" because I tried other standalone IE6, IE5, IE4 solutions which work well under XP but not on Vista.

When I ran IE6 standalone on Vista, I got the error:
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application.

Thanks so much in advanced!

Don't think it will run on Vista anymore.

Alternatively, you could download Virtual PC and make a virtual XP image. From there, you can run IE6 and IE 5.
Virtual PC 2004 SP1 is free

IE6 will not run on vista, and even on XP is a bit flaky as a dual install with IE7.

If you want to run IE6 best to install it on an XP machine. or create a virtual XP installation.

Greetings pupureg !

the best way to use multiple versions of IE on one machine is via virtualization. Microsoft has recently made Virtual PC 2004 a free download; we?ve taken advantage of that by releasing a VPC virtual machine image containing a pre-activated Windows XP SP2, IE6 and the IE7 Readiness Toolkit to help facilitate your testing and development.

VPC 2004 does not work with Vista, but VPC 2007 does work with Vista and the image above. Follow the instructions in this website:
