Experts,

We have 2 domain, lets call it domain1 and domain2.  in domain1, we have an application(let say bulletin board) that will send email messages to users of the domain1 for a new posting/document, containing document link to the database(bulletin board).  however, if we include users of domain2 in the mailing list used by the bulletin board in domain1, the document link inside the email message cannot be access and system will prompt that "The DocLink database cannot be located".

Question: is there a way that domain2 can be able to access DocLink from domain1?  if possible...what should i do?  by the way we have cross certification between doamain1 and domain2.

Hello marjun_mjr,

Users of domain2, do they have access to the server and database of domain1? Because that's what they need... Unless you have a replica of the same database in those two domains.

In addition, does the ACL of the database containing the docuemnts allow access to Domain2 Users ?

I hope this helps !

...if you're referring to ACL access, do you mean individual person or group?  actually the default access for that database's ACL in Domain1 is Reader.

...actually, whenever user of domain2 clicks the link from their email, system is trying to search for the server...and since domain1 servers is not part of the localdomainservers group in domain2...it will fail to search for the database...also there's already a replica of the database in the domain2

I think the following will work ( but you need not be happy with it):
- allow "Passthru to" on the server in domain2
- allow "Passthru from" on the server in domain1 to the server in domain2
- allow access to the users of domain2 to the server in domain1

All modifications are in the Server documents for both servers, under security.

You also need to have a connection document on the server in domain2 to the server in domain1 (but I assume it already exists).
