Large Email Stuck in Outlook Outbox

TimGolike used Ask the Experts™
I'm using Outlook 2003 on a computer running Windows XP Home.  I tried to send an email with an attachment.  A PDF file so I did not consider the size, but it was multiple pages and very large (over 18mb).  It will not send, but I cannot delete it.  Every time I try, I ether get no response at all, or it tells me that Outlook is already trying to send the email.

How do I get rid of this email?

Thanks,  Tim Golike

you need to work offline, you cannot delete the mail when its already sending it.
disconnect your internet connection (disable from control panel will be fine)

then start outlook and after few seconds,  (when it fails to connect to internet) you can delete the message
hope that helps.

Greetings TimGolike !

1. Try to delete the email in Outbox.

2. If no joy, go to Tools > Options > Email Setup. Uncheck send immediately.  Click OK.  Close Outlook. Make sure Oultook is close under Task Manager.  If outlook.exe is still running, close it.  Open Outlook. Now delete the email in Outbox.

3. If no joy, the email in Outbox is stuck.  You will have to Create a new PST file.

Then drag all the emails and contacts addresses to the new PST file.

Best wishes, war1
