Underscore in Windows 2003 Server Computername

Can I use an underscore in a computername for a server in Window 2003 Server. It is currently Windows 2000 Server. The server name is companyname_server. I need to retain the name as it is our mail server and would require a lot of reconfig. Are there any issues with W2K3 servers as I am going to retain this name

OK I cant use underscore for DNS name but can for NetBios. How do I make the DNS different and will that have any impact
Is this server a DNS host?
If you're running DNS on this server, you'd probably be better off going through the task of renaming it.
No I am not running DNS Server on it
