Is there a reason that you use ODBC, instead of the SqlClient .NET data provider?

I don't no why, but that's another discussion. The app is ready and running, but sometimes we have that error.

1) Is there anything in the event log associated with network connection?

2) That error is "Could not find installable ISAM".

3) That usually occurs when you don't have a well-formed connection string.

4) ODBC is an ugly pig, in my humble opinion ;)

Hi,
I will find out on monday.
But when i have a not well-formed connection string, is there not always an error.
I think only 1 on 1000 times it goes wrong.

That error might be a generic error and have different meanings, so I wouldn't necessarily say that my explanation of the error is accurate.

I found this error also:
"Data source name not found and no default driver specified"

If it works once, it should work 1000 times.  Can you give me a better idea of what you are trying to do please?

Hi,
It is a RF scanner wich coomunicates with an access point. The access point communicate with a server(cluster). There is a webservice (WS) who start a dll. It's not my own webservice. But it is the connection between the RF scanner and my dll.  There i make the connection with MS-SQL, do some stuff and close the connection.
After i close the connection the dll is gone and the WS is gone.
After a few seconds, with a new scan, the WS is starting and the dll is called again from the WS.
It is possible that max 4 webservices and also 4 dll are working simultaniously.
Connection is fast because SQL has a connectionpool. Also an other app. has the same error, only with the value:
Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionRead (receive()).
So there is something wrong but what?

Rob
