XP Pro Crash - Data Recovery

I had an XP Pro system crash and I'm trying to retrieve the data by moving it to another system as an external USB drive. I can see all the data and access all folders except f:\documents and settings\%user profile%.  When I double click that important folder, it says
"f:\documents and settings\%user profile% is not accessible.  ACCESS DENIED.

I have done this several times in the past with no problem. Why is this happening now and how can I overcome this so I can access her data?

Thanks,
Munkimann
