"Basic" internet troubleshooting help

Wow... thanks for the great (and quick responses).  This is what I know so far...

-- I asked whether websites would work at all.  Her response:. "Generally it has just frozen after opening and doesnt respond to closing." (I'm interpreting this to mean she's having trouble on all sites)
-- IE 6
-- It's not a new machine, but is a new issue
-- Win XP
-- She does have to restart the computer each time

She's just left for the wkend, so I'll leave this question open 'til I hear back from her about her ping results.

Here's the results of her ping... I asked how her connection is today & am waiting to hear back.

Hey everyone ... thanks again for all the comments.  Sorry for keeping this open so long, but I just got a response from her about 5 minutes ago.  Apparently, it fixed itself???  Huh?  As long as it's working, that's fine with me.  I'm going to hold on to all these suggestions for future reference!
