What are some common reasons for an application to run on an Intel but not an AMD? MFC Application is crashing on execute but it's command-line counterpart works perfectly fine on the AMD. What's the problem?

Actually, there's nothing to worry about. Unless you decide to use a special processor feature such as e.g. their individual SIMD 'dialects' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIMD) you will not run into any trouble regarding that difference.

In other words, any "regular" app is not affected by that.
