I'm hoping someone can share their experiences with a good wireless VPN router. I was looking at the Linksys WRVS4400N which looks great, but read a lot of bad reviews. Here's what I like about it:<br />

I was mainly looking to replace my DLink 624m with a VPN with wireless. I have a media computer that streams out music and videos to the rest of the house, so that's why I was interested in Wireless-N. It has a Buffalo 108Mbps card in it. Also I have a domain controller (Windows 2003) that serves websites that has a gigabit NIC on it. Can anybody recommend a good router that can handle all this. I'm pretty worried about the Linksys reviews. I would greatly appreciate any help or recommendations.

Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and enterprise (business) installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations. Wireless telecommunications networks are generally implemented and administered using radio communication. A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure, such as the Internet, to provide remote offices or travelling users access to a central organizational network securely. VPNs encapsulate data transfers using secure cryptographic methods and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted.

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet. The most familiar type of routers are home and small office cable or DSL routers that simply pass data, such as web pages, email, IM, and videos between computers and the Internet. More sophisticated routers, such as enterprise routers, connect large business or ISP networks up to the powerful core routers that forward data at high speed along the optical fiber lines of the Internet backbone. Though routers are typically dedicated hardware devices, use of software-based routers has grown increasingly common.
