Still using SQL Server 6.5, something happened to the database and now I can't drop a particular table.  Am receiving this error when I try to drop it:  Extent chain for object is not correctly linked.  I  don't care why it happened, I ust want to drop it and move on.  Please advise.

the "solution", according to the docs, when this message occurs, is to bcp the table out, drop it, and recreate it.
now, when you get the error while dropping it, this looks like more serious issue.

what service pack do you have on your sql server 6.5? with SP2 (or later) this problem should get fixed...

could you check out if dropping the indexes on the table first could identify the issue?

No need to bcp table...there are no records, indexes or keys on the table.

select @@version returned this:

try:
DBCC 'tblwithProblems',
