From My computer.
Right Click on the CD drive
Click Sharing and Security

Fill in the name and Add the users to share to and their privilages.

You should be able to use that across the network now

Sorry you got me wrong.I want to share the remote machines cd drive from my machine. With some script...Sorry for that....
I don't know of a way to tell the remote machine to share a folder.

Obviously connecting to the machine and sharing it manually is an option.

You could use the NET SHARE command to share a folder or drive.

You could put this command in a startup script so everytime someone logs on it will share this folder/drive.

Search Google for download of "rmtshare.exe"

C:\Tools>rmtshare
The syntax of this command is:

RMTSHARE  \\server
          \\server\sharename
          \\server\sharename=drive:path [/USERS:number | /UNLIMITED]
                               [/REMARK:"text"]
                               [/GRANT [user[:perm][ /GRANT user[:perm]]]]
                               [/REMOVE user]
          \\server\sharename=printername /PRINTER [/USERS:number | /UNLIMITED]
                               [/REMARK:"text"]
                               [/GRANT [user[:perm][ /GRANT user[:perm]]]]
                               [/REMOVE user]
          \\server\sharename [/USERS:number | /UNLIMITED]
                               [/REMARK:"text"]
                               [/GRANT [user[:perm][ /GRANT user[:perm]]]]
                               [/REMOVE user]
          \\server\sharename /DELETE

NOTE: if a sharename or path contains spaces, it should be enclosed
          in quotes:
            \\server\"with space"="c:\with space"

perm can be Read, Change, or Full Control

Oh, sorry; the <machinename> would be the remote machine name in both places, and <admin> would be an account with administrative rights on the remote machine. For example, say the remote machine is called REMOTEONE:

net use \\remoteone\ipc$ /user:remoteone\administrator

net use \\remoteone\ipc$ /user:remoteone\administrator

why is this command used?

This command connects you to the remote machine as an administrator of that machine. You have to be connected to the remote machine as an administrator to create shares on it.

But as I mentioned, you may not need this command at all depending on your environment.

i get this

^C
C:\>rmtshare \\dev-chen-srv400\cd=E:\

The command failed: 1789

C:\>rmtshare \\dev-chen-srv401\cd=E:\

The command failed: 1783

C:\>rmtshare \\dev-chen-srv100\cd=E:\

The command failed: 53

C:\>rmtshare \\indiasophos\cd=E:\

The command failed: 1783
I realize this thread is old, but it was the only hit in google for "The command failed: 53", so I wanted to offer this insight.
53 the network path is not found
2310 the share is not found
1783 The stub received bad data
1789 The trust relationship failed

Additional error codes from rmtshare.exe can be deciphered by typing NET HELPMSG and the message number
c:\>net helpmsg 53

Yes, this means path not found or wrong, in addition is WINS available (rmtsahre probably tries to use the NetBios Short name)
On the other hand, maybe it will work with the DNS full name? or with the IP address instead of "dev-chen-srv400"
