Document Management System
I need recommendations for a document management api. I need to make a file management system complete with permissioning and versioning - free/open source of course with significant community support etc.
I find a lot of "Content Management Systems". But they are more like content publishing systems for creating websites. I havent opened them up yet but they sound like they will take a lot of customizing/tailoring to suit my needs. I worked with jakarta slide once upon a time.
I would appreciate opinions, direction on whether slide is the best approach or there are better solutions these days? Also if somebody is famliar with php based systems, it would help to learn whether there is something similar and if/how they are better?
I realize this is a kind of an open question and it is more a matter of my conviction than something being actually better than the other. But I think with the variety of solutions out there, it will help consolidate opinions at least.
