Reset remote users password locally.

I have a user who works from home and connects over a cisco vpn client ,he can't recall his domain password, I can access his pc remotely when he logs on as the local admin,but dont know how to reset his password on the laptop to regain his domain access.

Reset his password in Active Directory.
Open Administraive tools, Active Directory Users and Computers
Find the user Account
Right click and slect RESET PASSWORD.

Sorry,
I have confused you, I did that part allready,now how do I reset it on the laptop that is not here in the office the user is remote.    
 
You don't have to - the domain credentials in stored in active directory not on  the local computer. All the user has to do is connect to the domain and log on again with the new (temporary) password that yoiu specify when you reset the password - he can then log in and chnage the password - just as he would if he were in the office.
He is not here to logon to the domain, he is in another state I cant log on his pc because it is using the stored credentials of which he has forgotten the password. Unless I am missing something.

I had this same problem, and my VPN Client didn't have the option to start before logon.  I was able to get the user to log in using local admin, then change Remote System Properties to allow Remote Desktop connections.  I had the user connect via the VPN, then I attempted to Remote Desktop into their computer using their username and new password.  Of course the second I got through Remote Desktop shut off since taking over their login shut down their VPN client, but that was all I needed to get the password change across to their computer.  The next time they tried to log in, their new password worked!
