Apple USB Keyboard and Windows XP Installation Problems

I am running windows xp sp2 on my laptop and have been connecting a apple usb keyboard all working fine however today when i plugged in the keyboard to the usb port it initialed the "found new hardware" wizard and then asked for the location of the windows software drivers which i dont have.  Originally when i set this up last month windows seemed to automtically find the correct drivers.  As there was only a MAC CD which came with the apple keyboard.  I have searched the web for any kind generic usb keyboard driver also tried apple.  Ive even done a system restore and still no luck,  Could anyone point to a solution or where i might find the software.  Many Thanks.  Andy

You shouldn't need any drivers for a USB keyboard or mouse from any manufacturer to work. Maybe there's something wrong with the mainboard's USB ports or drivers. You can try to remove every USB reference in the device manager, then reboot the PC, that way it should reinstall the drivers. Maybe you will need the mainboard's driver CD and the XP CD for that.
