Network Monitoring Recommendations

We are looking for something visually pleasing to monitor up to, and possibly more than 1000 devices (servers, web sites, router/switch interfaces, etc).  It needs to be able to monitor with simple pings as well as snmp.  We plan on purchasing a very large widescreen to put in the noc (hence the visually pleasing part).  We don't neccessarily want a US map on the screen with dots, or icons representing devices, but we would like to be able to put as many devices as we can on the screen.  We currently use IPchecker and prtg, and even have a licensed copy of UNICenter TNG.  Unicenter is very clunky, ugly to look at and requires an SNMP brain child to support properly.. We don't plan on using it

So far, the best I've come up with is Neuralstar.  Any recommendations would be great.  Remember, what it looks like on screen, and customizing the monitoring page is very important.

Thanks for the response.  OpenNMS looks interesting, but the demo on the site doesn't have a working map... sigh.  Nagios has some interesting map features, I may try that one out.  I'll close question and award you points... Not getting much activity anyway.  Thanks again!
