HP Laserjet 5000 question

Last Modified: 2013-12-15
I have a customer with an HP Laserjet 5000 that is just printing the outline of every font that we print in. Already tried a new cartridge and that didn't solve anything. Anyone got any ideas??

Is it just the one user, or all users who print to that printer?

If the problem only exists for the one user, then uninstall the printer from their workstation.  Tell it to delete drivers.  Reboot.  Run CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com).  Reboot.  Reinstall the printer.

If the problem exists for all users, then try resetting the printer to factory defaults.  Under the Resets menu in the control panel.  See page B-20 in the manual:  http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/bpl05322/bpl05322.pdf

Does this mean everything, even a test page or the printer's own configuration page, will print this way or are these special fonts?  If there is something unique about the fonts then please provide details.  Language support for the fonts may be the problem.  I would also like to get the answer to Michko's first question since it is unclear if this is specific to one user/machine or there is only one user.

Let me know if you have a question or need more info about any of this.

Everything that prints, regardless of computer or Font, comes out as though it is being printed with just the outline of the font and is very light. Even the test page and the Cleaning Page. Have already reset to Factory default and thought about removing the print driver but it makes no sense to do that since it happens reardless of location.
