Mac OS Mail: Sender sends 1 attachment, receiver gets 2 attachments
I'm a Mac user running OS 10.4.9 and using Mac Mail. When I send an attachment (almost always a photo), the receiver gets two attachments, one of which can usually be opened OK just as I sent it but the second attachment can never be opened. This occurs whather or not I check "send Windows friendly attachment" or whether the receiver is Mac or Windows. This seems to irratate and/or confuse the receiver. It irrates and confuses me too.
What do I have to do to insure that the receiver of my email receives only as many attachments as I send?

Boffgroup,
Following your suggestion, I sent a .jpg photo attachment to a Windows user and a Mac guy using Plain Text and not checking the "Windows friendly box. That didn't work. Both recipients reported getting 2 attachments but only being able to open one of them. Just like always.
So I tried again, this time using Plain Text and checking the "Send Windows Friendly attachments" box. This time both folks got just what I sent: one openable attachment. Hooray!
You led me slightly astray by suggesting I forget about the Windows Friendly stuff but the Plain Text bit was right on target and led me right to the solution of a problem that's been bugging me for a looong time.
Bless you!

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'm going to email messages with photo attachments to a couple of folks who always seem to have problems with my attachments. I'll use plain text as you suggest and skip the Windows friendly stuff.
I'll try to get responses asap and post a comment here as to how it worked out.
