How to run Adobe Version Cue server on Linux

Last Modified: 2010-05-18
Is there any way of running Adobe Version Cue server on Linux? Officially it's only supported on OS X and Windows, but it is a Java app, and on OS X it's certainly a bunch of .jar files. Has anyone tried this, or have any tips on whether it could work?

If you're dead set on running Version Cue on a Linux server, I would suggest installing it in a virtual machine with Windows installed.  That's not really "running on Linux", but based on my searching for solutions through Google Search and Google Groups, I think you'll just end up killing yourself trying to get it to work.

I'd thought of that; I'd prefer to run an OS X server rather than do that, as it would allow me to run pretty much everything else unchanged without the resource overhead, hassle, and risk of running a Windows server VM. However, a Linux solution would be ideal. I think I need to bite the bullet and just see if I can make it work - plenty of other Java stuff works fine.

Thanks for answering this old one. I'd had no luck with trying it so I'd given up on this and will run OS X instead. The answer really is "No, you can't".
