commission an IT Recruitment agency get when they fill a position

Hello,
What is the average commisson an agent receives in a recruitment agency when they get you an IT job. I have heard reports of agents receiving up to 25% of a persons salary for the first year. Does any one know for sure,... any link to a site that will give informative info for my question.

It is entirely up to the parties involved.

If it is a rare position and hard to find people, then the rate can be 30%-50%

In other cases, the company may have an exclusive contract and/or do a lot of business, and so do it at a lower percentage, then they would for a company using them once or twice a year...
Let's be clear, there are VERY rare occasions where commissions above 30% are warranted-- situations like when a person is needed on very short notice and they are highly specialized. If the potential employee doesn't come with a mountain of certifications and a great deal of experience, you shouldn't pay above 30%.
